In our previous article about Australian radio station Triple J we made our comments about the countdown of the Hottest 100 Australian albums of all time. Triple J runs their annual countdown on Australia Day January 26th, and many young people have daylong parties revolving around the countdown and listen to the countdown live. Some of the parties are theme based dress ups or even just pool or beach parties and barbeques, as it falls during the heat of Australian summer.

Blogger Jake Cleland wrote his account of his views of the countdown song by song
Things to note about the common playlists of Triple J is that it plays only new music on rotation (less than 3mths) and the music is independent, and also heavily based on Australian independent music scene. Regardless of this indie bands from all around the world become popular on this station, and sometimes in different languages, which is rare for an English language radio station. Also many of the listeners are aged between 15 and 35, which has an effect on the kind of music that is popular.
